Stage Eleven
Eggs for breakfast. Slept well. Poor progress with my book last night.
Another hot day is forecast. We ride to Toulouse over 170km of rolling countryside. No specific big climbs and largely flat. Three feed stops today - 40km, 80km and 120km. Feeling nicely rested and looking forward to being on the road again. All my kit is clean and dry from yesterday’s laundry session.
Here’s another July 1979 entry from my father’s diary:
“Took some sets of twin gimmers up the fell. Anthony cricketing at Settle. Helped Bob with some big bales in the afternoon. Björn Borg won Wimbledon - 4th time. Dull, damp, cooler”.

Le Monde has helpfully published a "when to have a nap" guide to watching coverage of the TdF stages. Today viewers should wake up for the Côte de Tonnac, then the Côte de Castelnau, then the last 20km. Watching the coverage I am more impressed by the day as to what you've taken on - chapeau indeed! When you have Gearaint Thomas saying it was a tough day it really brings home what you're doing.
Also passing on messages of support from Derek, and also Catherine. You saw the message from Old Tone?!
