Day Zero - The Heat is on

Each day I’ll be blogging details of Tony’s second jaunt around the Tour de France. Not content with completing the route in 2015, being 4 years older than the oldest finisher of the formal race (a certain Henri Paret who completed Le Tour in 1904 aged 50), Tony has decided to it all over again.

To put it into perspective Tony will be completing just under 3500km of cycling over 21 stages (the equivalent of cycling from Edinburgh to Moscow by the shortest possible road route), testing his cardiovascular fitness on 30 categorised climbs (this is the highest tour in history with three of the climbs reaching heights of over 2000m) whilst travelling through some extraordinarily beautiful French countryside. Not forgetting some wonderful food and drink  on the way - but more on that in later blogs!

I’ll also be suggesting a song of the day – to complement that day’s stage, and providing some quite interesting little factoids (see Henri Paret above).
