Stage Two - The Team Time Trial

Bruxelles Palais Royal - Brussel Atomium

Probably the easiest stage Tony will face, this is a gentle (in comparison to the rest of Le Tour) cycle through the streets of Brussels and the second shortest at 27.6km. No categorised climbs with the highest point being just over 100m above sea level.

Points of interest:
  • The Royal Palace - the neo-classical palace of the King and Queen of the Belgians which has a longer façade than Buckingham Palace.
  • The Bois de la Cambre - Brussels' very own Central Park.
  • The Atomium - the instantly recognisable landmark celebrating the 1958 World Fair.
Drink of the day - given we're still in Belgium it has to be a Trappist beer so we'll go for the classic Chimay Bleu.

Song for the day - Ça Plane Pour Moi by Plastic Betrand.

This is a message from Istanbul! It is really difficult to post you know, so I am sending it for Lesley.
"Sitting with Bedfords and McLaughlins in Istanbul, sipping a glass of wine. (Ed. Sipping?) We were thinking we'd done well walking 16,000 steps yesterday. Now seen you cycled 194.5km. Now feeling a little lazy!! Best of luck from all of us! Lesley, Kevin, Alison, Richard, Julie and Steve."

Ça Plane Pour Moi - now there's a blast from the past. Second year French at Aberdeen University, looking ahead to third year in France and wondering if I'd be able to understand anyone if they all spoke like Plastic Bertrand.
